The Roman Catholic Mary: Transormed Angel of Darkness

"The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun." Ecclesiastes 1:9

"Behold, the former things are come to pass, and new things do I declare: before they spring forth I tell you of them." Isaiah 42:9

Apparitions or appearances of the Roman Catholic Virgin Mary have been numerous and recorded in a vast area spanning over the entire globe. We will examine what the Lord God Almighty has reealed in His Word concerning the Roman Catholic 'Queen of Heaven'. This segment also will reveal 'Goddesses' of antiquity that have pre-dated Roman Catholic theology and have predated the advent of the Lord Jesus Christ 'in the times of his flesh' when he walked the earth some 2000 years ago. The Word of God reveals that while Jesus the Christ as born of a virgin named Mary in the days of his flesh, Mary was not granted the titles ascribed to her by the Roman Catholic Church. In 431 A.D. Mary was "honored with the title of 'Mother of God'" [Catechism of the Catholic Church, p. 253]. In the Catechism of the Catholic Church we also find:

"Finally the Immaculate Virgin, preserved free from all stain of original sin, when the course of her earthly life was finished, was taken up body and soul into heavenly glory, and exalted by the Lord as Queen over all things..." (p. 252)

As previously laid out through a comprehensive Scriptural exegesis in regards to the Word of God's description of the mother of Jesus in the previous parts of this project we will now examine the titles of the Roman Catholic Mary in light of antiquity and in light of the titles and attributes of the 'Goddesses' of previous empires, civilizations, and cultures and examine them to see the connective tissue between the goddesses of the past and the Roman Catholic Mary of the modern era. Almighty God through His Word gives us understanding into what He has judged to be false and to be an abomination in His sight. We also know how God judges those who engage in such practices by evidence in the consequences of such practice. Moses delivers God's severe warning in Deuteronomy:

"Take ye therefore good heed unto yourselves; for ye saw no manner of similitude on the day that the LORD spake unto you in Horeb out of the midst of the fire: Lest ye corrupt yourselves, and make you a graven image, the similitude of any figure, the likeness of male or female, The likeness of any beast that is on the earth, the likeness of any winged fowl that flieth in the air, The likeness of any thing that creepeth on the ground, the likeness of any fish that is in the waters beneath the earth: And lest thou lift up thine eyes unto heaven, and when thou seest the sun, and the moon, and the stars, even all the host of heaven, shouldest be driven to worship them, and serve them, which the LORD thy God hath divided unto all nations under the whole heaven." (Deuteronomy 4:15-19)

In Jeremiah's writings we see God's warning to the people of Israel:

"Seest thou not what they do in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem? The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead their dough, to make cakes to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto other gods, that they may provoke me to anger..."
